Mother Mangalam passes away at 97

Pure Life Society life president Mother A Mangalam passed away peacefully at 3.52pm today.

She was 97 years of age.

It is believed that Mangalam (above) fell ill soon after she celebrated her 97th birthday on May 20 and was receiving treatment at Assunta Hospital for pneumonia.

Mangalam was born in Singapore on May 17, 1926. She moved to Kuala Lumpur in 1948 to serve as a teacher.

A year later, she joined the society and worked to help orphans and underprivileged children for decades.

The funeral will be held on June 12 (Monday).

Those who wish to pay their last respects can do so tomorrow (June 11), from 10am onwards at the PLS Multipurpose Hall.
