Ex-DPP: Community service better than jail for man who stole sardines

A former deputy public prosecutor has questioned the jail sentence handed to a senior citizen who was convicted of stealing sardines, mouthwash, and coffee powder, last week.

Samantha Chong pointed out that there are already provisions in the law that allow for him to be sentenced to community service instead.
