Man escapes gallows, gets 30 years' jail, whipping for murder
A jobless man escaped the gallows after the Federal Court commuted the death sentence imposed on him to a 30-year jail sentence for murdering a man nine years ago.
The three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, Court of Appeal president Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim and Federal Court judge Hasnah Mohammed Hashim ordered B Rames to be given 12 strokes of the rotan.
