YOURSAY | Will Akmal's insults affect voter sentiment in Mahkota?
YOURSAY | ‘He is a dangerous troublemaker and has gone too far many times.’
Johor Harapan leaders worry Akmal will deter Mahkota's non-Malay voters
FairMind: Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim and Johor DAP vice-chief Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali should be very worried about Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh's uncouth actions.
Although Akmal is too immature to realise the situation, the Chinese, Indians and most Malaysians placed filial piety and respect for their parents in the highest rung of their lives. They can even sacrifice everything for their parents.
When Akmal ridiculed the elderly population and talked about sticking logos onto their foreheads, this insult pierced through their hearts.
The grave insult towards Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, the non-Malays felt in their ageing parents, and the feeling is not going to go away soon.
This feeling is not only towards Akmal alone but also with Umno and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who allowed Akmal to carry on his outburst without any restraint.
The result of the Mahkota by-election votes will be proof of non-Malay anger.
Cogito Ergo Sum: If BN loses, they will blame the DAP, not their own divisive and racial politics.
Either way, the DAP loses both influence with the people as well loses clout in the Madani administration. It’s all working well for the masterminds behind a grand design.
Gerard Lourdesamy: The DAP should not lift a finger to help Umno.
The non-Malay voters and moderate Malay voters should just stay at home then and let Akmal perform a miracle and win the Mahkota seat in the by-election against Perikatan Nasional.
Come on man: No, don't stay at home. Come out and vote for PN when the day comes to tell the current government not to take the non-Malay votes for granted.
I'm not from Mahkota but the feeling on the ground where I reside is negative towards the prime minister.
Any good that Anwar has done for the economy is being negated by his not handling this current issue well.
Sealthedeal: Indeed, make no mistake about this, non-Muslims are angry enough to vote for PN.
Akmal is a dangerous troublemaker and has gone too far many times, but his attack on Kok and the lack of support towards her from Anwar or Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will shape voter sentiment into protest.
It is not enough to stay at home. Do the unthinkable and vote PN. Do you want anyone associated with Umno Youth and Akmal to represent you?
myop101: Mahkota voters, please spend time with your family and loved ones. Don't waste time voting for Umno.
Just let them lose this seat as it will not affect the state government, but it will send a strong signal to the ruling government that what they condone is not acceptable.
WhiteMoose0037: Agree. Enough of Akmal and his stance against non-Malays.
He is worse than PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and his party when it comes to race-related issues.
At least PAS is pragmatic, and we know their stance on religious and racial issues. They are not like Akmal, a sheep in wolf's clothing.
Koel: If Pakatan Harapan leaders are so concerned, why are they being made fools of by Akmal?
Stupid people in politics are very useful for causing a loss of public confidence.
We can already see that here in public anger. Or is Akmal a plan to cause precisely the sort of instability and loss of votes they are talking about here?
Why has the leadership of Harapan failed to hold the leadership of BN responsible for Akmal’s immaturity? What plans to demand a public apology?
How can a party that cannot defend its coalition members from the viciousness of racism, sexism and ageism be expected to serve the people?
What are you worried people doing about this, Hassan and Sheikh Umar?
Hrrmph: Are the Harapan leaders seriously concerned? They can't be or Akmal would not gain such prominence within Umno.
If you think you can train a person to do unsavoury deeds that you are not willing to sully your hands with, don't assume you can rein him in as and when you wish.
Old Dragon: Don't be fooled by Akmal's antics. It is a calculated move. He has a national agenda in mind and Mahkota can just be a sacrificial lamb.
Furthermore, he does not have to take responsibility even if they lose the Mahkota state seat.
Instead, he hopes to score maximum brownie points with the majority of Malay voters on a national level with his crude antics.
OrangeViper4306: If Umno loses in Mahkota, all Harapan and Umno leaders will get the message that voters will not accept "Divide and Rule" policies, and rude, malicious, stupid and uncouth behaviours from politicians.
It is time they realise that we voted them in to do work and not break this country apart.
Excuses of defending race and religion for their agendas will not be tolerated.
If it is beyond your capability to help build this country, then at least stop inciting the people.
V S: Umno is happy with Akmal’s performance. He has even been honoured with the title of “Datuk” recently for his services to the nation.
They like what they hear their dynamic leader is telling fellow Malaysians.
No worries.
