708 killed in B’desh during protests against ex-PM, says transitional gov't

At least 708 people, mostly civilians, were killed during demonstrations against the rule of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, said Bangladesh's transitional government yesterday.

Bangladesh witnessed a mass student-led uprising in July and August, resulting in an end to Hasina’s 15-year rule after she fled the country on Aug 5 amid a surge of protesters in Dhaka and around her residence, Anadolu Agency reported.
